Favourite Podcasts & Spring 25 courses UK
December 26, 2024

Hello I hope you are enjoying your Christmas break. It's a great time to nurture your creative spark and today I'm sharing three of my favourite 'arty' podcasts. I find these are a great way to keep me inspired and hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I'm delighted to say that I've managed to get some dates confirmed for London at the end of February and registration is now open. If you'd like to give yourself your the gift of drawing, now's your chance! Places are limited to 8 people.

I'm just finalising registration details for a course in Scotland at the end of April.

Unfortunately the portfolio materials costs have gone up over 18% in the last year so I have had to increase my prices to take account of that although I have also absorbed some of that increase. The course fee includes 35 hours of teaching over the 5 days plus the portfolio of materials - including exclusive DRSB tools - that has a value of c£135 and is yours to keep.

A couple of people have mentioned that my emails have gone into their spam folder so if you email me but don't hear back please check your junk folder. If you are having problems you can always use anna.black (at) btinternet.com.

Three Favourite Podcasts

These are three of my favourite ‘arty’ podcasts. I have to confess I’m someone who prefers to read a book than listen to one so audio isn’t what I naturally turn to. However, over the last couple of years I’ve discovered that they are a great way to keep me inspired even when I can’t pick up a pencil or do anything creative.
  • Art Juice Always a favourite. Described as a podcast 'for artists, creatives and art lovers', it’s a conversation between two artists, Alice Sheridan and Louise Fletcher. They are funny, engaging and always interesting. Some episodes are more about the business of being an artist, others are about creativity and life in general and sometimes they bring on guests to share the chat. There are hundreds of episodes to choose from so have fun browsing.

  • Art2Life A podcast for the ‘creatively curious’. Painter and teacher, Nicholas Wilton shares ‘stories, insights, and inspiring talks with creatives from all walks of life …and all those super passionate about sharing their wisdom of self-discovery.’ Nick’s describes it ‘a weekly invitation to discern, discover, and then dive deeper into what brings you alive.’ Discover how you can nurture your creativity and take your art forward – as well as how to overcome the challenges that come up for all of us.

  • Savvy Painter Podcast This is one that’s fairly new to me but I’ve been enjoying the roundtable conversations about finding your voice and cultivating creative confidence.

One of the recurring themes through all of these is that the struggle to create is universal. It takes time to master skills and techniques and at times it can feel really frustrating – but if you can cultivate curiosity, patience and the willingness to let go of outcome and trust in the process, you will be rewarded.
